Information about Gabal al-Mawta
The conical mountain of the dead contains thousands of tombs carved in the rock, as well as many amazing Pharaonic inscriptions, and these inscriptions helped date the oldest graves in them. According to the website of the Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt, burials continued in these tombs until the late Roman period. It is reported that the history of the discovery of the Mountain of the Dead dates back to 1944, specifically during the Second World War, when the people of Siwa went to the mountain out of hiding, discovering the presence of the pharaonic tombs that are located inside. With regard to the most important tombs that the mountain contains, they are the cemetery of "Ba Thoth", the cemetery of "Meso Isis", the cemetery of "The Crocodile", in addition to the cemetery of "Si Amun", which is the most beautiful in the Western Desert.
