The fortress of São João Baptista de Picco is located at an altitude of 111.5 meters above sea level. Its construction was completed in the second half of the seventeenth century, and was used at that time as a storehouse for gunpowder in the city (the gunpowder that was intended for all the forts and towers of the island), and in the seventh century Ten, some educational workshops were held in this castle that lasted until the nineteenth century, and in the middle of the twentieth century, the castle was handed over to the Navy, and the Armada Communications Center was established in it.
