Fincastle Fort was built by British colonialists in 1793 to protect Nassau from pirates, because Nassau was considered the unofficial pirate capital prior to colonization. Built on the Bennett Hills, the fortress overlooks Nassau and the Queen's Stairs from its windows and towers, and is accessible to visitors on foot. Visitors will find several huge cannons, fortification walls and huge gates as they wander through the fortress.
