The former Monastery of Del Carmen is located in the upper city of Bergamo. It was designed in the first half of the fourteenth century, and was built in the fifth and sixteenth centuries. The building is considered one of the architectural jewels in the region. In addition to the rectangular monastery, the building included a library, stables and places for monks to stay. Today, the building has been restored and operated by one of Bergamo's major theater companies, and is used for musical performances and cultural events.
