Information about Eth Pokuna
This is the largest man-made pond in ancient Anuradhapura near Lancumaria, which is 159 meters long, 52.7 meters wide and 9.5 meters deep with a capacity of 75,000 cubic meters of water. There are many stone channels that allow water to flow, and it is possible that this reservoir was used by the monks of the Abayagiri monastery, who numbered more than five thousand priests. The pond is characterized by its wonderful architectural design, as it is surrounded by beautiful green spaces with many large and huge trees.
