The Elissar River is located in the Reykjavik region, and its source is two rivers in the Blavgol mountain range and the Hengil region that flow into Eldavatn and its outlet forms the river. The river is famous for salmon fishing although it is quite expensive. The river flows on its way through the beautiful Heidemoork Nature Reserve and the green Eldardalur Valley, has a diverse bird life and is located near an interesting museum that tells the story of the city's electricity.
