The ruins of Dusseden Castle near Sassnitz on the island of Rügen in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic Sea were built between 1873 and 1877 for Adolph von Hansemann; Owner of the discount bank in Berlin and one of the richest men of the Bismarck period, the architect of this majestic castle was Friedrich Hitzig, and designed it in the style of the buildings of the Baltic coast of Western Pomerania, as a result of the demolition of the castle in 1948 Today, only some traces of the building and stables that were burned down in 1997 remain.
