The Foundation of the House of Galilee is located in the heart of the city of Pisa and is one of its distinguished scientific monuments. This institution is managed by the Italian Institute for the History of Science, and aims to promote the study and research in the history of science as well as modern and contemporary sciences with an open view and a philosophical approach to scientific thought. This institution contains a library dedicated to the history of science and Galileo, which contains 40,000 books. Among the highlights in the library are the works of Galileo's original first edition, and there are two original letters of Galileo, one of which describes the law of falling bodies.
