Information about Dom Square
The cathedral square was designed by Béla Rerrich between 1928 and 1930, and has an area of about 12,000 square metres, and is bordered by elegant buildings in the Northern European style, and on its east and south sides there are a number of university institutes, while on the west side it is lined with buildings The Bishop's Palace and the Faculty of Theology. The National Pantheon (an ancient Roman temple) located in this square includes more than a hundred statues of prominent figures in Hungarian history, science and arts. The square hosts many festivals and cultural events that attract tourists from all over.
