This museum is the palace of Diego Velazquez, one of the Spanish conquistadors, the first ruler of Cuba, and the founder of the first seven villages in the country. This palace was built between 1516 and 1530 and is still preserved despite the weather and recent fires. This old house is considered the oldest building in Cuba and is now a museum showing the Spanish colonial period in Cuba. The museum displays a section of furniture and decorative pieces dating back to the sixteenth century onwards, showing the daily lifestyle of that time.
