From the outside, the Destero may look like an ordinary church, but in fact it hides one of the most beautiful treasures of the Lamego. Its building dates back to the 1640s when the Bailiff of Leça replaced the small church on this site with a large Baroque church. Some of the charming church paintings are in the Lamego Museum, but still inside are the gilded wood made by local sculptors Manuel de Gouveia, Manuel Machado and Manuel Martins in the 18th century.
