The beginnings of the Church of Our Lady of Oliveira go back to the monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the Holy Apostles, which was founded by Countess Mumadona Dias on this site in 949. Today, the church is distinguished by imposing arches and an entrance hall with excellent construction technique. The building also includes impressive Manolin elements. It is a testament to the finest Romanesque-Mudéjar group in Portugal.
