Since no permission was granted to build any other churches in the Sultanate of Brunei, the Catholic Church of the Virgin Mary is considered the only legitimate church in this Islamic country, and welcomes everyone to attend mass there or visit at other times and find a silent place to pray in private. The church is distinguished by its small building and architecture. Very simple, and the locals believe that it is its simplicity that helps people find peace within themselves.
