One of the oldest buildings in Dublin, Christ Church Cathedral has been a major visitor attraction and place of pilgrimage for nearly 1,000 years, notable for its scenic beauty, remarkable architectural features, and ornate tiles, and is famous for hosting many notable parties throughout the year, as well as the home of Strongbow's tomb. The Norman leader, who captured Dublin in 1170, is the only cathedral that can be seen clearly from the River Liffey.
