Cheonggyecheon is a modern 11 km stream running through downtown Seoul. It was built as part of an urban renewal project that included restoring the stream that existed during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) period. The stream was covered by an elevated highway after the Korean War. (1950-1953) as part of the country's post-war economic development, and in 2003, the highway was removed to restore the stream to its current form today. The stream starts at Cheongji Square, a popular place for cultural arts, and passes under a total of 22 bridges before flowing into the Han River, with many attractions along it.
