Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Church is a Russian Orthodox church located on top of Mount Karolnaya. Before the Cossacks arrived in the city, the church was a pagan temple of the Tatars, and the Cossacks added to the temple building a watchtower on the top of the mountain to notify the citizens of enemy raids. The church was restored in the years between 1973 and 1975, and it was repainted in the green color that it was at the time it was built.
