Setatuya Monastery is located on the top of Setatuya hill in the southern part of Iai. It was built by Prince Gheorghe Duca in the 17th century. The name “Sitatuya” is translated from Romanian as “castle”. The monastery is fortified by a 1.40 wide thick stone wall. meters and 7 meters high, with watchtowers on the corners that used to provide shelter to its inhabitants from many enemy attacks.
