Galata Monastery is a Roman Orthodox monastery for nuns, founded at the end of the sixteenth century by the Moldavian military commander Petru Şchiopul in the west of the city of Iai. With its fortified walls and a bell tower at the entrance, it looked like a fortress, often serving as a place of defense and sometimes as a royal residence, and near the church on the hill there are stunning panoramic views of the entire city.
