Information about Central Museum of the Textile Industry
A unique museum in ód dedicated to the textile industry, was established in 1946. It is the largest Polish center for the textile industry. The museum is housed in the White Factory Building, a large, white-washed four-story classic complex that constitutes one of Poland's most attractive examples of industrial architecture and housed ód's first mechanical cotton-spinning and spinning machine that powered the city's first steam engine. The museum includes treasures of threads, secrets and tales on pieces of cloth, and displays historical tools and equipment for the textile industry. Exhibits include large collections of yarns, fabrics, knitted fabrics and samples of industrial fabrics. There are also pieces of Polish art fabrics, women's clothing, men's clothing, European embroideries, and beautiful oriental rugs.
