It is likely that the history of Silves Castle in the historical and picturesque city of Silves dates back to about the eighth century, and the first mention of this red Moorish castle was by the famous Arab historian Al-Razi in the tenth century, and it is considered today one of the best preserved castles in Portugal, located on the top of a hill Rising from the Arad River, its courtyards offer stunning views of the city's skyline and surrounding countryside, and designated a National Monument in 1910, it is one of the finest examples of castles from Islamic times in Portugal.
