The Eiger Castle is a building of great historical importance. It dates back to the 13th century. It houses the Estefan Dubo Castle Museum and many monuments, including a 13th century cathedral and a Gothic episcopal palace from the 15th century. It is considered one of the most famous symbols of national fortitude. Defended by a handful of Hungarian warriors against a huge Turkish army in 1552, it was rebuilt several times, first in the Romanesque style, later in the Gothic style.
