Located in Serralves Park in the western suburbs of Porto, Serralves House is a villa that forms part of the Serralves Foundation, adjoining the Alvaro Siza Museum of Contemporary Art, built between 1925 and 1944, and is a rare example in Portugal of local architecture in the Streamline Moderne style. With interiors reflecting neoclassical, romantic and Art Deco elements, the villa and its grounds reflect the owner's enthusiasm for contemporary architecture and the decorative arts at a time when Porto and its region were experiencing a commercial and industrial boom and a period of great social transformation reflected in the rich diversity of architecture after World War I.
