Information about Buyuk Han
A landmark located in the north of Nicosia, it was built in 1572, shortly after the conquest of the island by the Ottomans, and thus is considered the oldest Turkish building on the island. At that time, it mainly served as a hostel for young travelers, who protected them from thieves due to its thick walls. It is two floors, on the ground floor there was a place for animals, and in the upper part were sleeping quarters for travelers. In the center of it is a large square that served as a trading center for many of the goods they were transporting at that time.
