Information about Burqin Church
The elegant candlelit church of Burqin marks the place where Jesus healed ten lepers. The first church was built on the site in the Byzantine era, and an old stone priest's chair from that time can still be seen next to a fine stone icon inside the present church. Today, the small Orthodox Christian community of Burqin, in the northern West Bank, worships in the church that bears the name of St. George. Recent excavations inside the monastery have revealed the tombs of two monks, and their belongings found in the tombs can be seen on display inside the church.
