This wonderful museum houses a rich collection of archaeological treasures that show the rich history of this southern city. Some of the antiquities and artifacts displayed in the museum date back to about half a century ago. Apart from the liturgical materials used by priests and monks in the past, the museum houses some artifacts from the inhabitants who lived in the area even before the arrival of the Spaniards. It also houses old diocese records dating back to the 17th century, including records of baptisms and deaths. An old wooden portrait of Santo Tomas de Villanueva is also displayed in the museum. This particular image is one of the three original wooden statues of the saint surviving in the country.
