Information about Beyazıt Tower
Beyazit Bergberg is located right on Beyazit Square and close to Istanbul University, where you can see it from almost everywhere from the old city. Since its first wooden construction in 1749AD, it has served as a fire watchtower and was used to send marine navigation information to ships in the Golden Horn. Seven years later, during the Great Chebali Fire, the tower was badly damaged and replaced by a second building on the same site. It was designed in the Ottoman style and named after Sultan Bayezid II, and a wooden spiral staircase leads to the upper floor of the stone tower to a room of 50 square meters, with Many arched windows. The tower works today as a weather tower, showing weather conditions in different colors, blue represents sunny weather, green means rain, yellow means fog and red represents snow.
