The Bechtler Museum is a 3,390 square meter modern art gallery that is part of the New Levine Center for the Arts in Uptown. This museum specializes in displaying artworks from the mid-twentieth century. This museum is named after Andreas Bechtler, a Swiss citizen, who resided in Charlotte, who amassed, and bequeathed a collection of more than 1,400 artworks, by well-known artists of the 20th century Modernism, now on display in the museum. This museum also opened its doors to the public in 2010, to be one of the leading art museums in Charlotte since then.
