Bath Abbey is the parish church of the Church of England and the former Benedictine abbey in Bath, founded in the 7th century, restored in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries, with major restoration work in the 1860s. The monastery is one of the largest examples of vertical Gothic architecture in the Western country, and in the Middle Ages the abbey church served as the bishop's cathedral. The monastery was built of yellow Bath stone, and it consists of a large central tower, and huge windows numbering 52 windows, and it includes a number of important monuments and statues that date back to different periods. .
