Castello Sant Remy is one of the most important historical fortifications in Cagliari, located in the Castello region. It was built at the end of the nineteenth century in the neoclassical style. The castle is made of white limestone and Corinthian columns. The castle was used as a banquet hall and then during the First World War it was used as a hospital. After that, it was used as a shelter for the displaced, whose homes were destroyed by bombs in 1948. In 1948 the castle hosted the first Sardinian trade fair and since then the castle has been transformed into a cultural space dedicated to art exhibitions.
