The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine is a classically designed 18th century church with an ornate interior and a lively plaza outside. It is considered the first and most important spiritual temple in the Canary Islands, and contains many wonderful paintings and sculptures such as the image of Our Lady of the Pine that embodies the legend circulating that in 1481 The image of the Virgin appeared on top of a pine tree where the present church is located.
