Bab El Jebli is one of the gates of the city of Sfax. It is located in the middle of the northern facade of its walls, between Bab Nahj El Bey and Bab El Jadid. It provides access to the popular vegetable market and the Sidi Bouchacha Mosque inside the city and a covered market outside. This door is considered one of the oldest city gates, as it was built during the era of the Aghlabid dynasty that ruled Ifriqiya (Lower Morocco) throughout the entire ninth century. It has the form of a vaulted shed with a depth of only 10 meters, and between its external and internal entrances, the portico was used to serve the guards' quarters.
