Information about Ataturk Museum
This modern four-storey building on Ataturk Road in Alsancak district was erected at the end of the 19th century by a local carpet merchant. After the building was abandoned in 1922 during the Liberation War it was used by the Turkish army as its headquarters. The army left the building and it was converted into a hotel called Naim Palace, and during their visit to Izmir on June 16, 1926, Ataturk and Asim Pasha stayed here for a while, then in the same year Izmir municipality bought the building and presented it to Ataturk as a gift, so Ataturk always stayed in this residence during his visits to Izmir Between 1930 and 1934.
