The building of the Ataturk Wardif Museum was established by Hassan Pasha, the governor of Izmit during the reign of Abdul Aziz. It is a semi-stone building in the style of military barracks and one of the military structures built for reserve officers in the Ottoman period. It was used as a military court building until the 1999 earthquake. It was opened to visitors as a museum after a series of repairs, and it houses many exhibitions related to culture and ethnography.
