Information about Arch of Augustus
The Arch of Augustus, or as it is called the "Holy Arch", is a monument dating back to 25 BC in the city of Aosta. It was built on the occasion of the Roman victory over the Selassie. The monument is about 11.4 meters high and takes the shape of an arch decorated with ten ornate columns. The monument includes a fortress and a cellar inside, and the monument is crowned from below at the basement with a copy of the ancient wooden cross found in the treasures of the Aosta Museum, which dates back to 1447. The monument has undergone many restorations, the last of which was in 1912, which resulted in its final shape.
