Information about Aqueduct of Valens

The aqueduct is a structure dedicated to supplying the city with water continuously. It consists of underground water channels, water pipes, tunnels, and bridges. The Valens Aqueduct, also known as Hadrian's Aqueduct, is the largest of its kind in Turkey, with a length of about 920 meters and a height of 30 meters. It forms part of the Valens aqueduct system that carries water from Thrace to Constantinople (Byzantine Istanbul). Today, Ataturk Street, built in the 1950s, runs under the arches of these arches.
