The Antoniadis Palace is located within the vast territory of Antoniadis Gardens. Its name is due to its owner, the Greek Baron John Antoniades, who lived in Alexandria and was one of the most famous cotton merchants. In the year 1860, this baron entrusted the French artist Paul Richard to develop the gardens of his palace to serve as a miniature copy of the Versailles Palace and its gardens in Paris, and in the year 1918 the ownership of the palace was transferred to the Municipality of Alexandria in implementation of the will of its owner who died in 1895.
