The Almaty Museum was opened in 2002, and is a leading educational and cultural institution in the field of scientific research. The museum exhibition presents the history of Almaty from the period of the first settlements on the territory of the city and its neighborhoods until today. Its collections consist of about 35,000 artifacts, including graphic artworks, and collections Unique Kazakh ethnography, as well as ethnography of representatives of ethnic groups living at the present time in Almaty, collections of household items of different eras and cultures, and an archaeological park.
