The great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was exiled to Bessarabia (present-day Moldova) for three years by the tsarist administration, arrived in Chisinau on September 21, 1820, and stayed in the house of General Inzov, which today hosts the Pushkin Museum, which is One of only two Pushkin houses in the world. The museum contains a collection of materials related to Pushkin's life in Moldova such as prints, paintings, sculptures, and decorative art pieces from the late 18th and 19th centuries, as well as prints of some of his written work.
