Al Wajba Castle is located 15 km south of Doha, and was originally a building in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century during the reign of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. Its historical importance derives from being the ground of a famous battle in which the Qatari people defeated the Ottoman forces in 1893 AD, and from being the residence of Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani in different periods. The fort has rooms on the ground floor and top floor and is famous for its four watchtowers. It has been returned to its original condition after several restorations.
