Information about Al-Jahili Fort
Al Jahili Fort is located in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It was established in 1891 AD around the pre-Islamic oasis to defend the city and protect the precious palm plantations. The Oman Coast Scouts made it a former headquarters for its missions, which were to protect the mountain passes and maintain peace among the tribes. This date is supported by what Percy Cox mentioned on his trip to the city of Al Ain in 1905, where he mentioned that he visited the Al Jahili area, which was built six years before that date. Lorimer mentions in 1906 that the construction of the Al Jahili Fort was developed under the rule of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. The castle is distinguished by its attractive Arab architectural style, as it is considered an important historical and archaeological place.
