Outside Fujairah City and 13 km along the main highway, Al Bithna Fort lies on the strategic roads that cross the Hajar Mountains through Wadi Ham. Built in 1735, the fort was of vital importance to the defense of the eastern region of the United Arab Emirates. The fort's massive frame of thick golden stone walls, flanked by a circular watchtower, makes it attractive to take pictures, while the views from the ramparts over palm groves and the nearby mountains are stunning.
