Al Ain National Museum is the oldest museum in the United Arab Emirates. It was established in 1969 under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates and known as the Father of the Emirates. The museum was built to chart the history of the city of Al Ain from the Stone Age until the founding of the United Arab Emirates in 1971 AD, and includes artifacts extracted from many archaeological sites scattered throughout the region, including flint tools and arrowheads dating back to the sixth millennium BC . The museum also includes the picturesque Castle of the Sultan, which is one of the important attractions in the museum and which visitors come to especially to see history.
