Information about Aiken-Rhett House Museum
Built in the 1820s by merchant John Robinson, Aiken Rhett House is of national importance as one of the best-preserved country house complexes in the country. It was greatly expanded in the 1830s and again in the 1850s. The house and outbuildings include the kitchen, original slave quarters, carriage block, and back lot, and the house and surviving furnishings provide a compelling picture of urban life in antebellum Charleston.
