Information about Adiyaman Museum
Adiyaman Archaeological Museum is the archeology museum in the southeastern city of Turkey. It is located at the corner of Ataturk Boulevard and Cumhuriyet Avenue in the heart of the city. The museum displays archaeological finds from the area around the city, as well as from salvage excavations carried out during the Southeast Anatolia Project. When planning for the Southeast Anatolia Project began at the end of the 1970s, excavations began at several sites in the Euphrates basin around Adiyaman, where many archaeological sites were threatened by the planned construction of hydroelectric dams. The current museum building was completed in 1982 and the museum was involved in excavations as well as excavations in the city of Berg, which is located within the modern city of Adiyaman.
