Formerly a quiet fishing village, Tamarindo is now an increasingly popular destination among nature lovers and adventurers. It is famous for its Pacific coast beaches, which boast crystal-clear waters and waves ideal for swimmers and professional surfers, and some of them are home to the nesting of giant leatherback turtles. The back, which lays its eggs during the months of October and March, also includes areas and nature reserves inhabited by howler monkeys and crocodiles, as well as many concerts and popular markets, in addition to its strategic location that made it a great center and base for exploring the North Nicoya Peninsula.
