The city of Al-Qusayr, located in the Red Sea Governorate in Egypt, was of great importance to the pharaohs, from which Queen Hatshepsut began her expedition to the country of Punt. It was also a site for gold mining in the times of the pharaohs. The history of the city is not limited to the era of Pharaonic rule, but also the period of Islamic rule, as it was ruled in the sixteenth century by Sultan Selim I. At the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, the city was a center for the gathering of Muslim pilgrims from Egypt, the Arab Maghreb and Andalusia to perform the pilgrimage. During their wanderings, visitors will find majestic relics from all the reigns that passed through it.
