The city of Khasab is the capital and regional center of the Musandam Governorate. It is located near the Strait of Hormuz, about 60 km from Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates and about two and a half hours from Dubai. It has been isolated from the rest of the Sultanate for a long time, and has recently developed into a popular tourist destination.
