This wonderful city of Chefchaouen has several nicknames, including the nickname "The Blue City", which is used among locals, because the buildings in it are all blue and are often compared to the Greek islands with blue houses. Most of the buildings in this coastal city were built on the mountain adjacent to the coast. It is an ancient city that was established in the year 1471 by the ruler Ali bin Rashid to house the Muslims of Andalusia after their expulsion by the Spaniards. It is one of the most important tourist cities in Morocco because its beautiful nature combines the coast and the mountain, and this terrain creates dozens of activities that tourists and visitors coming to the city can do. The city also has dozens of restaurants serving traditional Moroccan dishes, as well as many gift and accessory stores that sell traditional Moroccan goods, as well as colorful Moroccan folklore.
