Catanzaro, also known as the "City of the Seas", is an Italian city of 91,000 inhabitants (2013) and the capital of the region and province of Calabria. Catanzaro is an urban center, with a lot of activity, including some coastal cities, such as Celia Marina, Soverato and the municipalities of Silas, with a total population of 156,196. Catanzaro is being united to form a larger metropolitan area, by way of the region of Calabria, and with respect to the commune of Lamezia Terme, comprising 10 municipalities. This will create an integrated district of more than 200,000 residents.
