Altina is a village in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is characterized by its famous castle "Altina Castle", which was punished by the dukes who ruled the state. During Napoleon's occupation of North Rhine-Westphalia, Altina was rejoined in the Grand Duchy of Berg. After the Congress of Vienna, the Mark County was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia and reorganized as a province and government district.
